About Abner

Abner Coimbre, 27, is a compiler engineer for Thekla Inc., creators of Braid, The Witness, and the Jai programming language.


Abner spent his early 20's at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, helping upgrade the launch control system to understand modern rockets. He became Kennedy Intern of the Year in 2015 and named to Kennedy's 2016 Top 10 Innovators through Kickstart People's Choice.

Abner organized Handmade Network, an online community creating software projects inspired by Handmade Hero. More recently he started Handmade Seattle, a company that runs developer conferences.

In his free time Abner relishes books, lately as a student of positive psychology, neuroscience, and world history. He's engaged to one Seattle native working in machine learning. They live in the city with their kitty Zelda.

Abner was born and raised in Puerto Rico.
